On the night I was born

Mommy took me to Newton Medical Center's weight check clinic today (I'm already 12 1/2 pounds) and showed me where I was born. Tara was one of the terrific nurses who helped take care of us.

Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed

So far, you could characterize me as a morning person.

Christmastime is here

I had fun picking out a tree at the Christmas tree lot today. Wore a red hat and a "My First Christmas" onesie to get in the holiday spirit.

Playtime with Pa

What's the best way to get out of tummy time? Smile and coo a whole lot for Daddy!

Helen I and Helen II

"Over the river and through the woods, to Grandmother's house we go." No trip out to western KS would be complete without a visit to see my great grandma.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Which is bigger, the 12-pound Thanksgiving turkeys or me?

Airplane!

Airplane is one of my new favorite games to play with daddy. It's exciting and it teaches me to hold my head up strong!

Sleepytime is optional

Does this look like the face of someone who doesn't want to take a nap? Nah, not me.

Take Your Daughter to Work Day

I went to work with Mommy. Maybe someday I can work at an art museum, too!

Shine a Light

It was a beautiful day. But isn't everyday a beautiful day now that I'm around?

Darn Cutin'

Spatz the Cat has made an appearance on this blog before, but Zelde the Cat, the other half of the feline duo collectively known as The Darn Tootins, always runs and hides when people come around.
She likes me though. Can you blame her?

No place like home.

Even when you're 2 months old, it feels good to be home. Had a great time in Dallas though.

Pizza, pizza!

I'm growing bigger every day. Is it true that I'm finally longer than a Franki's Avanti special pizza is wide? Guess so.

Lunch with friends

There are so many cool people who Mommy wants me to meet. On our trip to Dallas, I was introduced to her friends Chris and Charla.

It's Tuesday

Nothing super-special about today. And I'm still cute.

Big girl bed

It's official, I've started the move to my fancy crib. It's a good thing too, because a certain someone was starting to think he wanted it to be his bed.

Christening day

I was baptized today at Woodland UMC and was on my best behavior the entire time. Not even a little cold water on the head bothered me.

Hot fire on a cold night

My first visit to Grandpa's farm included a hot dog roast. The fire was warm but I was chilly and didn't stay long.

Good food and good friends

So many of Mommy's activities revolve around one dinner or another. Friday night was no exception. She had delicious Italian cuisine with her friends Cindy, Madeline and Angie (who's holding me). I had the usual.

Veteran's Day

Here's a salute to all of our veterans, including my late great grandpa, who served in WWII and received the bronze star. I miss you, Grandpa Doyle!

Mmm, delicious!

A girl's gotta eat so Mommy, Grandma, Grandpa and I stopped for some great-tasting bar-b-que at Guy and Mae's in Williamsburg.

Raise your hand if you're sure

Mommy loves old commercials and their silly jingles so I felt "confident and secure" when she asked me if it was time to take a nap.

"Hey! Watch where you're stickin' that thing!"

I had my two-month doctor's appointment today, and that meant getting my first vaccinations. Ouch!
I was a real trooper though. I only cried a little bit and was just fine when it was all over.
Mommy and daddy were fine too, though it was touchy for a moment.

Don't rake up the baby!

Had I just not woke up from a nap, I might have objected to being placed in a pile of leaves. Regardless, fall has almost finished its wonderful display and pretty soon it'll be too cold for me to play outside.

Car seat recall

My infant car seat is perfect except for one little itty-bitty flaw: the plastic harness clip that goes across my chest can break, creating sharp edges and posing a choking hazard. Mommy already ordered the repair kit from Britax. Is there anything made for babies that isn't recalled at some point? Dirty diapers, I guess.

Burpin' baby

I'm about twice as big as I was when Daddy first started burping me like this. Pretty soon I'll be so big and heavy that he won't be able to hold me this way, which is too bad because this is a pretty successful way to get a burp.

Under surveillance

Can you believe my mom and dad didn't realize until after 10 p.m. that they hadn't taken a single picture of me today? Also, what do you think of my awesome baby monitor?

Laundry day

This morning I caught a ride in Mommy's basket as she hauled the umpteenth load of clean clothes and towels up from the basement laundry room.

Election Day

Mommy took me with her to vote today. She explained the importance of taking part in the political process, especially since 2010 marks the 90th anniversary of the 19th Amendment. An added bonus: the year I turn 18 is a presidential election year!

Hot Tub Time Machine

I'm still small enough that a bathroom sink becomes a hot tub for one, but isn't it amazing how much I've grown in two months!
(Nov. 1, 2010)

Boo!

Even when I'm having a full-on meltdown (which is rare) or my diaper fails, there's nothing really scary about me.
