A spoonful of sugar...

A spoonful of sugar would probably keep me up all night. Fortunately, the amoxicillin I'm taking to knock out a pesky ear infection tastes plenty good on its own.

Time for a (diaper) change

I decided today I should take a more active role during my diaper changes. Hand over those wipes.

Joywalker

I know I'm supposed to be focused on crawling but this new set of wheels really gives me some speed.

Self-feed

I started grabbing bits of food and feeding myself recently. Guess I just got tired of waiting for someone to put it in there for me.

Home again

I was only gone for a week but Mommy said I grew like a weed. She said that the last time I went on vacation.

Two for one

I criss-crossed South Dakota today for all kinds of family time. First up was the Heying family reunion in Hill City, followed by a gathering of the News down on the Missouri River. I was able to grab other people's mouths from both sides of Dad's family!

The sisters Bertch

I hung out with the fabulous Bertch sisters today. Bailey, Toby and Leigh are great fun and (in Daddy's opinion) a Gillette, Wyoming institution.
In other news, do I look like a baby with an ear infection?
Almost fooled everyone, but not that doctor at that walk-in clinic after this picture was taken.

Like father, like son

Now I know where my dad picked up his photo skills. Him and Grandpa Heying seem to have the same ideas. It's not the first time I've modeled this pose

Say Uncle

Uncle Craig is a just a walking, talking heap of body parts (like ears) and accessories (hats) that I can grab and pull on.

Mountain Girl

My cousin Travis gave me a ride through Montana's Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness today. All the excitement was so overwhelming, I had to take a nap back there.

Out West (reprise)

Stopped and had a little picnic today in Buffalo, Wyoming while on the road to Montana. Me and dad drove 1100 miles over the last two days. I didn't complain or cry one single time, just like last time.

Hard Rocking Father's Day

Dad and I started off our first Father's Day by hitting the road. This is no Rock n' Roll tour though, just a spin out to Colorado, Montana, South Dakota and Wyoming to visit the fam. We're at Aunt Kim's house in Longmont, Colorado tonight. Off to Montana tomorrow to see Uncle Craig and the cousins. Rock on!

Ride 'em, cowgirl

I've got my cowboy hat and my rocking horse and I'm ready to ride!

Sweets for a sweet

Cotton candy melts in my mouth (and in my hand) but I don't think it tastes that great.

Going mobile

It's not a full-on crawl, but I'm really on the move now. This means nothing at ground level is safe from my clutches.

Happy Birthday, Mommy!

What can a 9-month-old get the mommy who has practically everything? How about sleeping through the night? Done!

Little fish in a big pond

Today I tried swimming in the big outdoor pool. The water's a little colder out here than in the indoor kiddie pool.

Like a fish to water

Today I had my third swimming lesson. I'll be winning Olympic medals before you blink.

Summertime Blues

It better not be anything serious. I've got swim lessons in the morning.

Artist-in-training

I visited Bluebird Arthouse today and stocked up on supplies to begin creating my masterpieces: crayons, a sketchbook and washable, non-toxic finger paints.

Curator-in-training

If I'm going to pick out contemporary art (for a museum or just for my room), I'd better start reading all about it.

What the hail are these?

I've seen big hail before but these little pea-size and quarter-size pieces are so much more fun to play with.

Wheat harvest

Where did we celebrate Grandpa's birthday? In the wheat field. And my first ride on the combine was so much fun!

Tall, Grande and Venti

One week. Four months. Nine months.
Obviously, it's time for a bigger scale.
I'm now 20 pounds (Venti is Italian for "twenty") and 27 inches long.
Yay me!

On my own two feet

With a little something to grab hold of, I can stand up all by myself! It's the getting up that I still need a little help with.

Garden party

Tonight was my second visit to the beautiful Bartlett Arboretum. The hosts gently beseeched "all-white attire only" at the croquet party. I had the perfect white dress in my closet and amazingly it still fit.

Tiny dancer

Auntie Amy made me this fabulous outfit: a personalized onesie and matching tutu. I'm ready to practice my pirouettes.

Grab on tight

If I came across a snake, sharp knives, poisonous mushrooms, rusty nails, an electric fence or dog poop, I'm sure I'd try and grab a hold of all of those things, too.

Today I (safely) grabbed a hold of nine months of age.

Urban hiking

Dad took me on a hike around the town this evening. I sure like sitting up high and being able to see all around.
