Backyard survey

I took closer look around today and noticed there are a few green things starting to pop up. Spring is definitely on the way.

Man crush

Dad got home today from an out-of-town work trip, so Lexi and I decided to... dogpile!

Cat nap: same time, same place

It was as true a year ago as it was today: if Spatz isn't awake by the time I get up from my nap, he soon will be.

Finding not-so-buried treasure

Today was the first day I ventured up the stairs to the attic, a place I'd never gone before. And what did we find? A properly labeled box called "Toys" that was full of toys Mommy played with when she was a little girl. What a find!

No use crying over spilt milk

Dare I say I was eager and excited to get out the rag and clean up the milk I spilled at dinnertime all by myself? Didn't need any help for this task.

Water, water everywhere

A summer-like day means it's time to get out the garden hose and do some much-needed watering in the yard. And I got about as much water on me this time as I did last time.

Runaway Art Cart

Where does an artist-in-training keep all of her art supplies? In this handy-dandy art cart, which can be wheeled around the house. But not wheeled too fast or the cart crashes into things like walls, furniture, and people.

Two girls

Fernando stopped by with his new dog. Her name is "Girl" because Fernando said he didn't have a better idea.

New heights

There's nothing at the playground I don't want to try and climb, not matter how crazy it makes Dad.

Wacky noodle

We have a song we sing around here. It goes like this:
"If you try it (clap, clap, clap)
You might like it (clap clap clap)."
I tried pasta carbonara tonight and decided I really, really like it.

Feeling the blues

We made cupcakes today. A lot of cupcakes.

Helping out around the house

Did a little vacuuming on the stairs tonight. Always doing what I can to help out around the house.

Let it Go

When I went to my first movie last December, I heard Oscar-winning song "Let it Go" for the first time. Now I ask to watch the video over, and over, and over, and over, and over....

Impromptu recital

I was the lone audience member during Lexi's piano practice tonight.

The wheels on the bike go 'round and 'round

I won't be cruisin' on my tricycle forever. Better start thinkin' 'bout a new set of wheels.

Drawing up better weather

Sidewalk chalk is a sign of spring as much chirping birds and blooming flowers.

A big ol' bug

I've seen some big insects before, but certainly not a praying mantis quite this size.

The power of public television

My KPTS Kids Club care package came in the mail today, and included a new t-shirt for me to wear to Kids Club events plus my new favorite book, Alexander and the Wind-Up Mouse.

Sing with me

We play music together, we sing together. What's keeping us from taking our show on the road?

Pick me a winner

What can I say? Hanging at Casey's house is awesome!

Mudbuggin'

Lillian and I got to sit at Aunt Jaime's drum set at the Fais-do-do during the Mudbugs' annual Fat Tuesday show. I think beating things with a stick is a mighty fine way to earn a living.

Coming to life

I attended a small birthday party at Build-A-Bear Workshop today. I stepped on a black pedal on the floor and presto! A stuffed kitty appeared right before my eyes.

Breakfast for dinner

No matter what time of the day it is, you can never go wrong with a tall stack of pancakes.

Party room antics

Julian came over to hang out so, in honor of the snow, we made snow angels out of confetti and ran around in circles since it was too cold to go outside.

Innocent, until you're sent to bed

I may look cute and innocent in this picture, but in reality, I was mired in a battle with Dad about going to bed. I lost.

Body art

Only time will tell if painting my hand at age three will result in my desire to get a tattoo at age 18.

Decompression time

A little time with my favorite books before lights-out is a good way to wind down after a fun-filled day.

A taste of your own medicine

Seems like only yesterday that someone had to give me medicine when I was sick. Now, I just take it myself.

How do you say bye-bye in Mandarin?

My friend Samantha, hostess of great New Year's Eve parties, is moving to Shijiazhuang, China. What are the chances my party room will still be intact when she returns to Wichita to visit? I'd say chances are good.

Soccer, anyone?

It feels good to stretch my legs and kick the ball around in the backyard before making the car ride back to Wichita.
