Closer to nature

Most of my afternoon walks have been either in my neighborhood or at Sedgwick County Park. Today's outing was a real treat because Mommy took me to see the beautiful Bartlett Arboretum in Belle Plaine.

'Lil Pumpkin

My dad took me to my first trick or treat outing today where he works. I got to meet all sorts of ghouls and gobblins, along with celebs like Adrian Peterson and Captain America. Oh, and lot's of my dad's co-workers. I was one popular little pumpkin.

More reasons to smile

I'm 8 weeks old today. I'm getting good at smiling too!

Mismatched

Don't worry, folks. Mommy didn't flunk her color theory class. And she didn't let me leave the house dressed like this either.

Sing me a song

Before I was born, my mom would sing and play the piano for me. Even the very first moment I met her, she sang to me and I stopped crying. If I'm feeling a little fussy these days, all mom has to do is sing me some of those same songs and I calm right down.

Streeeeetch it out

Athletes stretch. Cute babies stretch. Gotta keep our games sharp.

Hey, who turned out the lights?

How long do you think it took Mommy to notice, once we got in the car and started for Grandma's house, that my hat had slipped down over my eyes?

"So long, Cowboy."

Last time I saw my great grandpa, I got to sleep in his favorite chair. His lap was the best place for taking a nap.
Today I buried my Great Grandpa Doyle, and I miss his lap already.

An angel's face

Mommy is always on the lookout for "sweet light" when it comes to photos and took this one of me in front of the church's east-side stained glass windows.

A better way to go nighty-night

When I last visited Aunt Missi, I slept in a makeshift bed. This time Mommy remembered the Pack N' Play and I had a great night's sleep.

Multitasking

Some days, I bet my mom wishes that humans came with those little pouches like kangaroos have. Wouldn't that be handy?

Monkey See, Monkey Do

My list of favorite things to do grows all the time. So far, it's pretty much been sleeping, eating and pooping, with an occasional crying fit thrown in for good measure. But now you can add looking at things to that list. Just you wait, I'll be reaching out and grabbing those same things before you know it.

No wonder my diaper's always wet

Because perspective is always a good thing, it's worth noting that I'm hardly larger than a 44 oz. beverage from Sonic.

Girls just wanna have fun

How many artists/art historians/museum staffers did it take to get me to go to sleep last night?

"Cause you got a good thing going, baby"

My dad took me outside on this chilly fall morning, and my mom took a photo that looks a little bit like the cover of one of her favorite albums.

New mommies with new babies

I met a cute baby girl (just like me!) today. Her name is Maren. My mommy and her mommy were pregnant at the same time, with due dates just a day apart, but I arrived first.

Color Blind

All the books say I still have a bit of color blindness. Even in black and white, my world looks pretty good.

The view from down here

While mommy got ready this morning, I had some good tummy time on the bathroom floor. Look at me lift my head up strong!

The Rainbow Connection

I used the powers of my super-cuteness and willed this rainbow to appear.
I know... I'm awesome.

I'll sleep just about anywhere

My baby bassinet wouldn't fit in the car and Mommy forgot my infant travel bed so Aunt Missi got creative. I slept in one of her plastic storage containers--it's the perfect size and safe for sleeping.

Go Big Red!

I can tell ya this... Dad is WAY more fired up for the Cornhuskers' game against Kansas State than I am.

Shaking hands and kissing babies

I met a very important local official today: Robert Layton, Wichita's city manager. Mommy told him he had my vote but he reminded her that he's appointed, not elected.

Bigger than The Beatles?

They're practically beating down the door to meet me now. This lad, whose name is Noah, was the latest in a long line of dashing youngsters (like these two, and this guy) eager to meet me.

Total Eclipse of Helen

According to this website, my name means "Sun Ray" or "Shining Light."
Maybe they should add "Person who still has breast milk on their lips."

Peas and Carrots

Daddy was tired. I was tired. Of real importance here though, is the flowery thing in the bottom left. It's called a "Hooter Hider." It's mommy's new favorite thing.

"The more things change, the more they stay the same"

Aunt Kerry, Mommy's college roommate, came to Wichita. She brought a very-cute Mini-Me with her. Being so popular wears me out!

Mommy's a Jayhawk, Daddy's a Cornhusker

Hey Aunt Nita, it looks like someone spit up all over your sweatshirt.
