Choosy kids choose Jif

Smeared on bread is fine but peanut butter straight outta the jar and onto my spoon is quite delicious.

It's your turn, Grandpa

With some practice and luck, I bet I can win at Tic-Tac-Toe someday.

Puddle jumping

Today's brief rain shower left behind this minefield of water puddles. I tried to jump in every one of them.

Outta sight

This sticker was outta my sight, so I couldn't see that it was upside down. Things get pretty crazy at daycare some days.

Who's babysitting who?

I've got a lot of babysitters on the list, but Casey remains one of my favorites.

Backyard buddies

First I wanted to play with Meow-Meow. Then I wanted to play with Monkey. But, in the end, it was a live animal, not a stuffed one, that really got my attention.

Tea for two

Dad and I had an impromptu tea party today.

Where's the ocean from here?

Playing in the sand at the park is fun, but playing in the sand on a beach somewhere would be even better.

Here's a hug

I know what it's like to lose a great-grandpa, so I came out to Western Kansas to give Caden a hug since he lost his great-grandpa, too.

New toot?

Although I think he should stay, the new cat who keeps appearing in my backyard isn't welcome by Spatz and Zelde. Mommy reminded me the Darn Tootins are a duo, not a trio.

"Everybody doin' the mess around"

Dad can hold me upside down with one hand, and operate a camera with the other. That's nuts.

Heavy duty

Tried out the extra protection nighttime diapers. They failed.

And the Cradle Will Rock

In the past, I've done many impersonations of famous rock stars. Everyone from Billy Idol, to Bret Michaels, and of course, this timeless classic. It must be in my DNA. David Lee Roth... eat your heart out.

Dinner with friends

I showed everyone how well I can use a spoon, plastic or otherwise.
(September 17, 2012)

Hair we go

I insisted on helping Mommy with her hair. The messy, bed-head look is in.

These boots are made for walking

Grandpa's boots are so big on me, they're hardly made for walking. More like sliding around slowly across the living room floor so I don't lose my balance.

Little kid. Big camera

These things weigh a ton. They don't play nursery rhymes, either.

Virtual reality

Mom was on TV tonight, trying to get people to pledge money to our local public television station
Gotta love a station that has Elmo AND Mom.

Got milk?

I run out of milk and think the world is going to end. Thank goodness there's always more in the 'fridge.

A fair day

There's something for everyone at the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson. Wildlife, really tall people, corn on the cob. Even a water fountain to cool down in. I had great fun and only saw the tip of the iceberg of everything a kid can see there.
(Sept. 10, 2012)

Movin' on up

I've graduated to the big-kids swing and the really tall slide. Being 2-years-old has its advantages.

I'll be your narrator

Not only can I serenade Julian with my delightful rendition of the ABC song, I also can read to him the finest prose around: nursery rhymes.
(Sept. 8, 2012)

Baby on the balcony

Today's lesson: no throwing things (like sippy cups or stuffed animals) from the second floor down to the first floor.

Picture day

A whole team worked on my hair and wardrobe, but I still ran around like my hair was on fire before stepping before the lens.

Nonfiction literature

Birthdays come with birthday gifts, including this fine piece of writing.

Pizza with the Pattersons

Samuel and I enjoyed a lovely dinner for two: pizza! It's been a little while since we've hung out together, and it seems like just yesterday when we first met.

A sweet treat

The best snack in the world (even when it's right before lunchtime) is leftover birthday cake.

Double the fun

Last year I just wanted to take hold of the flame on the candle. This year I wanted to blow out the "happy cake" candle over and over again.

Can you believe I'm already two years old?!
Dad kept saying all day that it seems like only last week that I was born

"Helen of Wichita" is also two years old now. We're coming up on 100,000 page views, so we can't stop now! Thanks to everyone who visits my blog to watch me grow up.

A Super-Suessical Party

I had the best time at Aidan's first birthday party. He had a pinata, shaped like the Cat in the Hat, filled with candy for all of the kids.

A late blog pic

After nearly two years of taking blog pics, why is it that Mommy still forgets sometimes and has to take my pic at the very last minute?
(August 31, 2012)

Who's that on the little screen?

Mommy suspended the "No Screens 'Til Three" rule temporarily so I could watch an important local news story on television.
